just read this on vince's blog. so challenging! how is your church mutiplying?
You know what I notice about that Jerusalem Church, and that Antioch Church, and every church mentioned in the Bible? They no longer exist. And you know what I know about your church? Someday it will not longer exist. Have you thought about that much? You should. And one of the things it should make you realize is that starting new churches (that go on to start new churches) (that go on to start new churches) is the only way your church will continue to have an impact on the world into the future. It’s true, if you don’t believe me, just read Stetzer’s book and the, what do you call it, oh yeah, the Bible.
We kicked off ONE PRAYER at RCC this week. It was a great Sunday. I am so excited about the potential for this series and what God is going to do through his church in the coming weeks. You can listen to my one prayer here. And don't forget that all of the ONE PRAYER churches are partnering together on the weekend of the 22nd to raise money to plant 500 churches! Incredible...don't miss the rest of this series.
This is downloading now. Jon Foreman's series of acoustic EP's have been a true delight to me each time around. I can't wait to hear what's in this offering. Good, good stuff!
reading vince antonucci's book, and I came across this quote this morning:
It's impossible to love God or people in a hurry.
if there is something that encapsulates my heart and my struggle living here in NOVA, its that. my biggest desire is that Jesus and other people would be the most important thing in my life, but i find myself so easily swept up into the fast paced life here in the DC metro area.
is it just a pipe dream to say that followers of Christ can live that kind of counter cultural life in this city? that's my dream...that we would, as vince says, "live at the speed of love" here in the DC area.
