Can you identify each carol?

Back when I used to teach chorus/music, I created little festive activities for my students on the fun free-day following our holiday concerts.  This is one that somehow has stuck around in my Christmas stuff for years.  The title of each Christmas carol is rewritten in a descriptive method - Can you identify the true title of each carol.  Feel free to copy it and use it for whatever - it has been a good conversation point and activity for gatherings over the years.  First, I'll give you the chance to figure them out by yourself...but don't worry, I'll post the answers this week!

1. the counterpart of day, devoid of noise
2. respite be granted by the diving being to you cheerful persons of masculine high social standing 
3. domed instrument of Ag 
4. grant that frozen precipitation may descend 
5. humanoid of frozen precipitation with an appropriate title 
6. a dozen axis rotations prior to the divine birthday celebration 
7. placed aside in the animal trough 
8. interjection of wonder towards the sacred counterpart of day 
9. hollow object named for the character of the sound it makes when struck 
10. interjections of wonder towards the small village of the Savior's family residence

That is so much fun! I think I figured them all out, but I'm still having trouble with number 3...

This was so fun!! I did it with my kids at lunch today and it we had a blast. I think we'll steal your idea (if it's ok) and use it for a game at our Christmas Tea!
