I neglect this blog so much and by the time I get around to writing, I realize that I am overwhelmed. Nevertheless, I'll try to catch up a bit.
First, I recently attended the Catalyst conference in Atlanta with my husband and some other leaders from the church. The conference was amazing, I enjoyed all the speakers and more...but the best part about it all was being together with the team. I loved spending time with these people both bonding but also watching how God was actively working in each of them and driving us forward together in vision and purpose and passion. It's amazing how God moves when you seek and expect Him.
Each person came back with a testimony of how God touched or challenged them. Here is my unexpected touch from God:
I've always had a sensitivity for justice and especially regarding children, so these topics aren't new to me, but pondered and prayed over. However, at one point during the conference there was a video advertisement for the rockumentary "Call and Response" which addresses slavery in todays world including sex slavery including children. God crept into my heart at that unexpected moment of all moments during the conference and broke it. I couldn't stop crying. I was weepy for the rest of the event that day and throughout the second day as well -particularly when there were testimonies from people who had been adopted as a "Compassion" child and during a performance by a choir of African children.
It wasn't the way I expected God to intervene in my life during this particular conference, but I'm glad He did. He is still churning up things regarding that within me, I'll keep you updated.
