So I'm two days into my transition and feeling more and more comfortable with this new OS. I'm pretty pleased with how quickly and easily it has been to navigate around mac OSX. Today's big accomplishment was setting up ftp access to the server. I know...I know...all you computer geeks are laughing, but for a lowly tech wannabe that was a bit accomplishment.
I installed Pro Presenter today finally. For those of you who are
asking if it would be worth the switch, my initial feeling is yes...definitely. It is super simple, seems pretty easy to use, and transitions slides like butta.
I haven't yet tested it on an external monitor, so that will be the big test. The one thing that is notable is that it is really different from Media Shout. It seems at first look to be a bit less dummy proof for the actual Sunday morning operation. With Media Shout I could set up a program for the morning and didn't really have to fear anyone messing with it. ProPresenter has some amazing capabilities to change stuff on the fly, but I have some initial fears that the wrong stuff will get changed on the fly. But that simply goes back to training my team, and being more intentional about our production elements.
The simplicity of the program may complicate how I put together the service, but I think ultimately this will pay off on the side of quality. About a month ago I moved our lead lighting guy into more of a production director role...I think his role will become a bit more important now.
