my house was packed to the gills tonight. nearly the entire core group of our church came out to my house tonight for a party and then a field trip over to the Town Center for prayer. our folks love to hang out so we had them ALL over. it was crazy...it was packed...it was noisy...it was just what we needed. then the whole group, plus a couple who couldn't come earlier, with kids in tow and all headed over to the top of a parking deck in the Reston Town Center to join our voices together before God for our city and for our church. then we split up and walked through the Town Center and just prayed for God to do something larger than us. i was so humbled at the resolve and passion exhibited by this group of people. God is up to something...
not everyone could come but here is on email i got when i arrived home tonight:
We have been looking forward to this meeting with the church since it was announced on the 9th and have been excited about a chance to all be together to pray. However, we are just beat from today’s other, earlier obligations. With our resources as depleted as they are we are going to stay in tonight. Since we know how important this prayer is, we are going to spend part of our evening dedicated to praying for the transition RCC is in, for the meeting as it takes place, and for the city of Reston as you will be.
there is such a fresh sense of urgency right now...i'm really praying that God will continue the fan the flame that has been sparked in the hearts of this church...
