My family and I were hit head on by a speeding semi during pouring rain 8 years ago. Two lives were lost and many others were changed forever. People who commit traffic violations have no idea how they change the lives of their victims and sadly, most of them don't care. It is time for us all to stop being so selfish with our time and SLOW DOWN. When the accident occurred we were only feet from the exit that would have taken us off the interstate and onto the road to our home. Please slow down, follow the posted speed limit, don't tailgate, refrain from using cruise control when it is raining hard, and have your car, especially the brakes and tires checked frequently by a qualified technician. Always remember to turn your windshield wipers on during rain - it is the LAW. Remember your child is watching you constantly and the way you behave in your car is probably how he or she will behave in theirs 16 years from now!! Finally, NEVER EVER get into a car without buckling your seatbelt. Wearing a seatbelt saved my life and it can save yours too. ALWAYS make your children wear their seatbelt, use carseats, and be a good role model by wearing your seatbelt too!

Thankyou so much for sharing your story with us. I'm terribly sorry that you had to suffer such a horrible experience. I sincerely hope that all who read will be inspired to act as cautious drivers in response. Thankyou again so much for your comments.

I understand your concerns. Becoming a parent can bring out the protective side in all of us. If only this urge to protect and stay safe can be taught in schools, there would be fewer accidents on the streets.
