While I am far from being an expert on the subject, I must disagree. The tons of pesticides that end up in our water, soil, and our food as a result of "conventional" farming is hardly a plus for the environment or for people.


It clearly isn't disputable that pesticides are an environmental and health tragedy. However, the most pressing environmental issue we are facing right now has to do with the atmosphere and global warming (or so experts would attest). This post was written in light of climate, and simply to point out that while organics are the best choice for bodily health, they aren't a perfect solution to global issues.


wow, those are really interesting statistics that i never would have imagined. i agree with alexandra though that pesticides are still a big concern. certainly we can make the biggest impact on the atmosphere by changing our driving habits and working to buy locally (as you mentioned.)
