Dear Readers,
I recently received this question and unfortunately, I don't have any personal experience with childcare options in this area. Would you please help this friend out by offering whatever information or recommendations you can? Thankyou so much!
Dear Restonmom,
" I live in College Park, MD but work in
Reston 2 days a week. I telecommute the other 3 days. Do you know of a
day care facility in the Reston area (preferably near Sunset Valley
Drive) that would allow me to enroll my son for the days I work in
Virginia? He's only 6 weeks old and I can't stand the thought of being
so far away from him on those 2 days." - Lisa
It will be more difficult to find a regular facility day care that will let you do part time, as most day cares don't have a part time schedule for newborns. I honeslty don't know of one. The rates are high as they are anywhere for day care. I know Minnie Land is a day care I checked out that was regarded very highly that is close to your friend's job. It was around $300 a week, which is average day care prices for Northern Virginia. It was very clean, had a great cirriculum (the babies even had craft projects), and the teachers were all very nice. I only decided not to use that school because there was a day care closer to my house.
The other problem for this area is the space in each day care. Its hard to get in with the amount of youngsters, but she could luck out and find something. I started the enrollment and waiting list process when I was only eight weeks pregnant and they didn't call me with an opening until I gave birth!
She may want to look at this website, since there are a lot of nannies that will do part time work. Just make sure whatever she does, that they are legit, safe and have experience!

Another great website to check out is this one. It basically is a review website of anything and everything in your area that people write about including day cares!

Hello,
I am the owner of a small infant and toddler montessori program in reston.
The desire to start First Steps Montessori arose after the birth of my fourth child. I was so in love with my new child that I didn’t want to leave her. At the same time, I enjoyed teaching so much that I couldn’t stay away from it. After much thought, I decided to combine my two greatest passions and First Steps Montessori is the result.
I have set up a home-based Montessori program that caters to the infant and young toddler. It is a place where children are nurtured in the safety and security of my home.
I would be happy to care for Lisa's child

Hello, my name is Kamrun Arif, I have a daycare center in Herndon, not so far from reston. It's called "The Children's Place", located in 860 Dranesville Rd, Herndon, Va 20170. Ph#703-437-8884. It would be great for your baby since we have a very low ratio. Our tuition fee is very affordable and low.
