I'm about to celebrate my 30th birthday next week and so far I'm loving it! But it seems like birthdays and years passing have a way of making a person become a little introspective. So, I've decided to ponder and make a list about who I want to be in 20 years when I turn 50. The emphasis is on the "who"...I'm ruling out all "whats" on this list - it is not about what I want to be doing, what I hope to have acquired, what I want to achieve or what I want to look like. This is strictly about character - who do I want to be twenty years from now? I think it's a much more valuable question, the rest doesn't much matter. But I hope that the "who" will totally outshine the "what" as others peer at my life...so, though I'm still pondering this, here is a list of just a few of the things that I hope to retain or add over the course of my next 20 yrs:
- integrity
- my deeds match my creeds
- contagiously joyful
- obviously and genuinely grateful
- helpful
- overwhelmingly generous
- caring more about being interested than interesting
- a blessing to my children
- a blessing to my husband
- full of vitality
- peaceful
- full of words that are uplifting and kind
- absent of words that are harmful or unkind
- a passionate worshiper
- full of scripture memory
- an advocate of people who are oppressed, hurt, or in need
- a good friend
