I was given a little bit of time to myself the other evening and headed over to Barnes and Noble where I somehow ended up reading Jillian Michaels' Master Your Metabolism - yes, I sat with my decaf pumpkin spice latte and read the whole thing.
It was surprisingly one of the best health/nutrition books I've read in a while. She comes across as very honest, likable, and relatable in ways I hadn't anticipated and so her story was interesting and drew me in. But what hooked me was the informational content. Basically you read about her own struggles and then what she found works for her - which she then goes on to recommend. And it's this in a nutshell: eat healthy, clean, whole foods; be active; get plenty of sleep; and rid yourself of toxins in your food/environment. It's all stuff that mirrors the latest research and that any decent doctor would agree with.
And particularly helpful, I found it all to be very clear, well-presented, concise, and as complete as possible within those boundaries.
I would pass this book on to anyone who wanted some straightforward information on having the healthiest body possible or some nutritional guidelines to follow. I'd pass this book on to just about anyone for various reasons - It would be worthy of your home library.
