There is something about a crisp apple or a cup of apple cider that just exudes autumn. But, there are
a lot of varieties of apples out there to enjoy. And if you are going apple-picking like my family deos every year, you'll want to know how to best serve 'em up at home. So here is a run-down I've gathered from a few different sources and stored in my own home cookbook. I'll follow up soon with some great recipes.

raw: very sweet and crisp

GINGER GOLD: best eaten raw
raw: tart, crisp and juicy

GOLDEN DELICIOUS: best eaten raw
raw: sweet and mellow, honey-like
cooked: soft, dull
GRANNY SMITH: good raw or cooked
raw: very tart and crisp "green apple"
